Finding inspiration in Melbourne, the brunch capital of the world, and produce in the bustle of Borough Market on its doorstep,London Grind marks the Grind & Co’s (Shoreditch, Soho & Holborn Grind) first foray into a full menu.
Arabica Food & Spice Company started out at Borough Market, armed with little more than a cool box in a market stall over 14 years ago selling a small range of mezze from an 8ft trestle table. Now, Arabica Bar & Kitchen has a charming permanent location in the art of its market birthplace.
The monstrosity that adorns London’s skyline, claiming fame to Western Europe’s tallest building, The Shard is springing to life with another new opening this month. Cleverly designed with an understated minimalism, the dining space in Aqua Shard puts the panoramic views of London at the heart of the diner’s experience. Aqua Shard, from David Yeo of Aqua Restaurant Group, brings the essence of modern London with inventive British cuisine to Level 31.
To add to the sky-high likes of Duck and Waffle and SushiSamba, Oblix at the Shard has opened to give diners another opportunity to dine from the ultimate nosebleed section of the City of London.
Inspired by New York grills, the Oblix menu is split between rotisserie and grill has a British/European flair. As well as serving wood-fired breads and pizzas, prices sit around £6.50-19.50 for starters; £16-54 for mains; £4-7 for sides; £6-9 for desserts, however don’t let prices or menu make up your mind, the main attraction to the Oblix is of course the breathtaking view.
Tom Sellers, bright eyed at only 26, has opened his very first personal project, Restaurant Story. With an impressive list of experience behind him Story draws inspiration from his own 'stories' and those drawn from some of his michelin-starred mentors; Tom Aikens, Thomas Keller (Per Se, New York), and Rene Redzepi (Noma, Copenhagen). Sellers is making fairy tales come to life with Three Bears Porridge, and an edible candle that is said to become Restaurant Story's signature dish. Need we say more..
