It’s time to sit down and be on your best behaviour for The After School Club – a pop up dining experience serving 5 courses of posh school dinners at the Round Chapel Old School Rooms in Clapton. Prepare for an evening of mouth-watering dishes with a side of theatre, a helping of music and, of course, the milk monitors!
Yes you guessed it, The Old School Rooms are transformed back to their former glory with black boards, chalk and, of course, teachers. The menu includes revamped versions of school lunch classics including the likes of Alphabet Spaghetti and Fish Fingers as you’ve never seen them before, thanks to Ellen’s theatrical cooking style combining nostalgia and creativity.
Moro-trained chef Ellen Parr’s food is influenced by the Middle East, Spain and most lately South East Asia. Ellen has just come back from a cooking research trip to India and would like to do a PhD on the magic of chilli sauce if she wasn’t so busy creating fun experimental dishes. She met art collector and self-proclaimed tat hoarder Alice Hodge whilst they were both at university in Glasgow. Alice loves an interactive element and has been awarded an A* for her attention to detail.
So pack your uniform (ties provided if you forget) and head over to the Clapton Park Round Chapel, just a short walk from Hackney Central. Homework will be provided!
