The first recipe we tried from our box was a Malaysian Rendang Curry with Tofu. The spice mix came easily pre-chopped and was full of flavour meaning we could throw the entire meal all together after work one night. Making a curry from scratch is an unheard luxury for us when working full time. The second, warm Black Chickpea and Kale Salad was equally as inspiring to someone who had never come across a black chickpea in their entire life.
The social enterprise bit I mentioned? Make Kit take proceeds from recipe kit sales to fund community healthy eating programmes, with the aim of empowering people from all walks of life to create delicious and healthy home-cooked meals from scratch through free cooking classes in partnership with local schools, youth clubs and children's centres. The focus is on accessing families and young people on low-incomes and those suffering from diet-related illness, and boosting their confidence and cooking repertoire.
