October 2014 marked the opening of The Beaumont, the first hotel by Corbin & King; the London restaurateurs behind our glamorous art deco favourites The Wolseley, The Delaunay, Fischers and Brasserie Zedel.
One piece of art too large for The Beaumont walls is Anthony Gromley’s giant robot shaped sculpture called ‘Room’. Scaling three floors of the building, the very top of the artist’s imposing work houses a fumed oak-clad bedroom in a one-bedroom suite, accessed up nine white marble steps through a black velvet curtain from a pure white marble bathroom. The cost for a night in Gormley's ‘Room’ is not readily available, although we've heard one night goes for roughly £2,500…. seemingly reasonable for a night in a robot’s head.
