Chinatown is the home of a number of hidden speakeasies, most recently Opium Cocktail and Dim Sum Parlour has joined the list. In keeping with the unpublicised and secretive style of a speakeasy, you enter through an unmarked Jade door on Gerrard Street.
The venue is a labyrinth of different rooms, each in south-Asian chic and decorated in a unique style.
You will eventually find the Dining Room for a parlour of dim sum delights, the Apothecary Bar for mysterious pharmaceutical type cocktails which are identified by Chinese characters, a tea room and an attic bar which unfolds through a number of Orient Express carriages to an experimental Cocktail Table, headed up by founder Dré Masso.
It all feels very much like a film set, doesn’t it.
